Mattisson's Celtic Sea Salt with Algae is hand-harvested in Brittany, France and further enriched with algae. It has a grayish hue and contains a huge amount of important minerals: potassium, magnesium, iron, calcium, phosphorus, manganese, etc. Its mineral composition and color are due to the contact with clay during its extraction method, with some of the minerals being added additionally. It has a high moisture content and is slightly oily to the touch. In this version, the salt is difficult to digest and, if you want to use it in smaller crystals, it must be left in the air until the moisture evaporates. It is believed that it can strengthen the immune system and improve brain function. Celtic salt contains the least sodium and the largest amount of calcium and magnesium, compared to other types of salt. Due to the small amount of sodium content, gray salt is very gentle on the body. In terms of properties, it is relatively close to pink Himalayan salt.
What is the role of algae?
Mattisson's Celtic Sea Salt is enriched with three types of seaweed popular with culinary enthusiasts - Nori, Dulse and Ulva, which give a specific taste and add a large amount of iodine. Dulse seaweed is a protein food with a pleasant nutty taste. Ulva is the so-called "sea salad" seaweed. Nori is without an intrusive taste, but with many beneficial substances in its composition.
