The nutritional supplement Aloe of the brand EkaMedica contains 99.8 percent juice from the leaves of the world-famous succulent plant aloe (Aloe vera), whose fame as a healing agent stretches back thousands of years. It was a popular means of maintaining the health and strength of Alexander the Great's warriors, and according to legend, it was to it that the general's army owed its invincibility.

Over 75 active phytochemicals and minerals beneficial to human health have been found in aloe:

• Vitamins: A, C, E, folic acid (B9), B12 – powerful antioxidants that limit the harmful effects of free radicals;
• Enzymes: alkaline phosphatase, amylase, bradykinase, carboxypeptidase, catalase, cellulase, lipase and peroxidase. Bradykinase suppresses inflammatory processes, and the others help break down sugars and fats;
• Minerals: calcium, copper, selenium, chromium, manganese, magnesium, potassium, sodium and zinc. All of these trace elements are important for the proper functioning of various metabolic processes in the body;
• Anthraquinones: 12 in total, including aloin and emodin, which have pronounced analgesic, antibacterial and antiviral effects;

Aloe contains eight enzymes, two of which play a key role in digestive processes – amylase breaks down carbohydrates, starch and sugars, and lipase helps digest fats. Anthraquinones have laxative properties, stimulating peristalsis and facilitating the passage of food through the gastrointestinal tract.

Aloe also contains prebiotics – substances that serve as food for healthy probiotic colonies in all parts of the digestive system. The active substances in the plant’s juice also help repair damaged parts of the stomach and intestines.
