The Chaga mushroom is a very rare and difficult to recognize type of mushroom. It grows on the bark of birch trees. It is black in color, does not have the classic stump and cap, but looks like a tree growth. If you have not seen it in a photo, you would hardly recognize that it is a mushroom.
