What is folic acid?
Folic acid is part of the family of water-soluble B vitamins (vitamin B), also known as folacin.
Folic acid was first discovered in spinach in the 1940s. The body's own mechanisms do not allow it to store this acid for long periods of time; it must be replenished from the outside almost every day. This is why folic acid is considered the most common vitamin deficiency.
