PYRUVATE is an endogenously synthesized substance that is also found in some foods and is directly involved in the energy cycle, or Krebs cycle. Although carbohydrates are considered typical energy carriers, they are not available in the body in the form in which we consume them. Their energy is obtained only after their conversion into glucose, which in turn is converted in the cells (via the Krebs cycle) into pyruvate.

Just a few grams of orally administered additional Pyruvate are sufficient to provide energy to the cells for metabolism. The athlete can use Pyruvate as a means of significantly increasing performance (more energy, less fatigue) by adding it together with carbohydrates to his normal diet. As a result, the energy status of the cells increases by up to 60% above the level achieved with carbohydrates.

Pyruvate can also be taken as a supplement during a fat loss diet. In this case, the athlete is best to consume a protein-rich, but low-fat and carbohydrate diet and take, so to speak, calorie-free Pyruvate to improve the energy status at the cellular level. Despite the insufficient amount of carbohydrates, this will avoid lower fat metabolism and provide enough energy for daily work and intensive training, which in turn will stimulate the melting of body fat (fat is burned through movement and exercise).
