Iodine is one of the elements that our body cannot produce on its own, so we must obtain it through diet. Sea fish, seafood, seaweed, dairy products, eggs, hazelnuts and oatmeal are rich sources of iodine.

We get a significant amount of iodine from salt fortified with this element (iodized salt). Adults should consume 150 µg of iodine, with the exception of pregnant and lactating women, where the demand for this element increases. Iodine contributes to the proper production of thyroid hormones and TSH, and also regulates metabolism so that the body can obtain energy. It is necessary for proper development and growth, which is especially important for the developing fetus and children.

By influencing thyroid hormones, iodine helps maintain proper brain structure and function – especially cognitive functions, which are responsible for learning, processing information, and orientation in the field. Pregnant women, nursing mothers, and people with thyroid disorders are particularly at risk for iodine deficiency. Symptoms of iodine deficiency may include abnormal levels of TSH and thyroid hormones, enlarged goiter, delayed development, intellectual disability, fatigue, and dry skin.

Δεν μπορώ να πω πολλά με σιγουριά και βεβαιότητα, το παίρνω μόνο ένα μηνα, χρειάζεται τουλάχιστον τρεις, βελτίωση αισθάνομαι στους τένοντες,και στις αρθρώσεις,μεγάλη δυσκαμψία έχω στα χέρια, συνεχίζω την προσπάθεια μου με υπομονή.
