Lutein is a yellow-orange carotenoid that powerfully protects the eyes, lungs, and arteries from free radical damage. Lutein and its related compound zeaxanthin are concentrated in the eyes, where they help absorb harmful blue light, convert singlet oxygen, and inhibit lipid peroxidase.
