Vitamin B6 is part of the B complex family of vitamins, which play an important role in a number of physical and psychological functions. They are best known for supporting metabolism and normal energy levels, the functioning of the nervous system and neurons, the condition of the liver, skin, vision, and the cardiovascular system.

Vitamin B6 is an essential nutrient required for more than 140 physiological processes, including the conversion of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into energy; the production of neurotransmitters that influence memory, focus, and emotional well-being; the formation of red blood cells, and more.

Vitamin B6 deficiency is associated with anxiety and depression, fatigue, muscle pain, worsening of PMS symptoms and anemia, etc. Since B6 is important for nerve function, its deficiency provokes neuropsychiatric disorders and leads to exhaustion, anxiety and depression.

Pyridoxal-5-phosphate has many more advantages than the artificial form of B6 – pyridoxine. The widely used pyridoxine is most often excreted from the body before the liver has converted it into the active form – pyridoxine-5-phosphate. In addition, to be effective, the artificial form of B6 – pyridoxine must be taken in higher doses, and this can provoke side effects. In contrast, the biologically active form of B6 – pyridoxine-5-phosphate provides sufficiently large benefits even at lower doses.
