Description and main properties of Bacopa monnieri
Bacopa monnieri is a perennial creeping herbaceous plant found throughout the Indian subcontinent, parts of Southeast Asia, and many other warm tropical regions around the world, such as Madagascar, the Caribbean, South America, and Hawaii. It has small, rounded succulent leaves and small white flowers. Bacopa prefers hot, humid tropical regions. It can also grow in water, which is why it is often used as an aquarium plant.

The health benefits of bacopa are due to the active substances in its composition, called bacosides, which in this extract are standardized to 45%. They support the functioning of the dopaminergic and serotonergic systems and contribute to maintaining connections between neurons by increasing the proliferation of dendrites (nerve endings) and thus improving communication between brain cells.

The beneficial properties of the active substances in bacopa find application in the treatment of a number of problems related to higher nervous activity, including Alzheimer's disease, memory loss, symptoms of attention deficit hyperkinetic disorder (ADHD), epilepsy and stress.
