Description and main properties of golden root
Rhodiola rosea, also known as Tibetan ginseng, pink goldenrod and rhodiola, is a perennial herbaceous plant that has been used for centuries as a tonic and medicinal agent in many European countries. Otherwise, its properties have been known since antiquity – its medicinal properties were described by the ancient Greek physician and pharmacologist Dioscurides in 77 AD in his classic medical text De Materia Medica.

The main active ingredients to which golden root owes its unique properties are rosavins (rosavin, rosin and rosarin) and salidrosides.
