Baking soda – 300 g

Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate and baking soda, is used primarily in cooking when baking flour products. Baking soda is completely non-toxic and can be used to cheaply and effectively solve some health problems and many household problems. Sodium bicarbonate is a white crystalline powder. When it reacts with acids or is exposed to very high temperatures, baking soda breaks down into salt, water and carbon dioxide. This is the reason for its widespread use in many areas of human activity.

Health effects of using baking soda

• Sodium bicarbonate (or rather its aqueous solution) has a weak alkaline effect. It is a good antiseptic for conjunctivitis, laryngitis, stomatitis and rhinitis;

• A teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in milk or, even better, with a spoonful of honey, is the best remedy for relieving coughs, as it thins out tough secretions;

• Inhalations with a soda solution (a tablespoon of soda per liter of boiling water) relieve any respiratory problems by killing viruses and microbes that cause inflammatory processes;

• Baking soda is a popular remedy for quickly eliminating heartburn (a quarter teaspoon of baking soda in half a glass of water). In this case, baking soda should only be used when there are no other remedies at hand. Frequent use has the opposite effect: acid secretion increases;

• Baking soda is one of the best and harmless means for eliminating sweat odor and is a proven hypoallergenic substitute for antiperspirants;

• Can be used as a scrub for both the face and the whole body;

• Baking soda is useful for hand, foot or body baths as it has an antiseptic and antifungal effect;

• A strong baking soda solution soothes the itching of mosquito bites and relieves the pain of bee and wasp stings.

Household uses of baking soda

• In cooking, the product is used as a leavening agent. Baking soda turns dough into a pastry with an airy consistency. Carbonated drinks are prepared based on sodium bicarbonate. It helps reduce the time required for cooking meat and vegetables;

• In everyday life, baking soda serves as a harmless cleaning agent that removes stains, especially greasy ones, from furniture, clothes and hard surfaces. It can also permanently eliminate unpleasant odors in the refrigerator and laundry basket. Baking soda softens hard water.

Recommendations for use:

For external use: Add 100 g to a warm bath or 1 tablespoon to laundry.

For internal use: Add 1 tablespoon to a glass of water 2 times daily. It can be used as a leavening agent, with 1 part baking soda equal to 3 parts baking powder.
